I've been teaching the pre-class at church for almost 12 years now. I often think back to the first years and now those kids are teenagers. Now that Abigail is in the class, it makes me realize how time really flies. She's 3 1/2 and before I know it, she'll be a teenager too! I will do my best to cherish each moment! Christmas 2011

On Christmas morning, Mark, Belle, Abigail and I exchanged gifts. We got some great stuff! Thank you Grandma Belle and John (aka Grandma and Pe-Paw)! After the gift exchange, we relaxed the day away (actually, we stayed in our pj's all day). We had a scrumptious Christmas dinner, Belle did a wonderful job! Mark and I were off the 26th too so we were excited to stay another day. We did a little shopping and ate at a great meal at Tijuana Flats. Mark's dad and stepmom came for a visit before we left for home. Abigail had so much fun. We made it safely home around 7:30. We are truly grateful for our families! We headed down to Virginia Beach on Christmas Eve and went over to Mark's cousin's house for the Hadley Christmas Eve party. The food was good and it was nice to see his relatives. Abigail played with a couple of her third cousins and the dogs. She had a blast. The gift exchange is always fun. We ended up with an awesome crockpot! Abigail got a Christmas Snoopy toy and Ariel pajamas. After a little while, we headed back to Belle's house and called it a night. Enjoy the pictures.

Abigail attented her first Hyles Baptist Christmas Party yesterday. There were 100+ kids and boy was it loud and a little crazy in there! There was singing, preaching, a skit with The Grinch and Cindy Lou, a Christmas lunch and a special visit from Santa. Every child got a present from Santa and best of all a couple children got the best gift of all-salvation! Enjoy the pictures.

Weekend trip to Harrisonburg

Mark had the weekend off of work so we went up to his dad and stepmom's house in Harrisonburg, VA. Other than Mark's dad cutting his leg with the chainsaw and getting 12 stitches on Saturday, it was a relaxing and uneventful trip. I am very thankful for my family. God has blessed us with such a loving and caring family. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday by far. It is a time for me to reflect on all of God's blessings and also to spend quality time with family. We got up early this morning and headed to Elizabeth City to have Thanksgiving dinner with my mom's side of the family. As always the food was delicious. Thank you God for my family! I wish we could have stayed longer but Mark worked lastnight and has to work tonight. Enjoy the pictures.

Abigail was a sneaky little girl this morning. She was so quiet when she got up that Mark didn’t hear her. She came in our bedroom and got my lotion. She spread it all over her arms and legs and then the hallway walls and carpet. Nice surprise for Mark to clean up while I’m at work. Mark didn't take any pictures but I can just imagine the mess!

Sickness

The sick bug has attacked the Robinson household. Mark went to Patient First on Sunday morning with an aweful cough. His diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection. The doctor gave him cough medicine and an antibiotic. I had been sick to my stomach since early Friday morning and got so weak Sunday afternoon. Mark took me to Patient First but they wanted me to go to the ER just in case I had some intestinal blockage. Thankfully, my parents were still in town from Abigail's birthday party and were able to watch Abigail while we were at the ER. After almost 3 hours in the ER, blood work, 2 iv's of fluids and an abdominal CT scan, my diagnosis was a stomach virus. The doctor said that it had to work itself out of my system and could take 7 days to clear up. Those were some miserable days! Once we got home from the ER, Abigail woke up vomitting. The next day she had diarrhea and more vomitting. We took her to Patient First and her diagnosis was strep throat and stomach virus. The doctor gave her antibiotics for the strep throat and suggested bland food for the stomach virus. We have been quite a sick bunch. Please pray for quick and complete healing for all of us.

We just had to get out and enjoy the beautiful 80° weather today so we went to the park. Abigail walked with us on the trail this time instead of being pushed in the stroller. Sometimes she would giggle, run ahead of us and say "You can't get me!". Other times she would lag behind because she was picking up rocks along the way. After a lap around the trail, we let her play on the playground for about 30 minutes. She played all over the playground and loved every minute of it. Enjoy the pictures.

I was able to go to the ladies conference at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, West Virginia on Friday and Saturday. Thank you, Mark, for looking after Abigail while I was gone. The theme this year was "Somewhere in Outer Space" and the decorations were amazing. I had a wonderful time with the ladies from our church. The speakers were great. The messages were very motivating. They made me want to be a better Christian, wife, mother and friend. I'm looking forward to next year's meeting!

Virginia Beach Trip

We went to Virginia Beach and visited Mark's mom for a few days. It was a much needed vacation away from work. We had a great time with Belle and John (aka Grandma and Pee-Paw). I feel like we ate out more than anything else while we were gone but we sure did enjoy it! To sum up our visit, we celebrated my birthday on Friday night, hung around the house alot, did a little shopping, went to the beach twice, had a cookout on Labor Day and headed back home on Tuesday. Abigail got to experience the beach for the first time on Sunday evening. She hated it at first. Screamed and cried for 20 minutes before she finally started enjoying herself. We let her play for about an hour. She definitely did not want to go home. We went back to the beach Tuesday morning for a couple hours. It took her about 5 minutes before she wanted to play in the sand that time. We saw dolphins swimming not far from the shore. Abigail wanted to go swim with them so bad. Thank you Grandma for spoiling us on our vacation! We had a wonderful time! Enjoy the pictures and videos.

Hurricane Irene

That's right...an earthquake and hurricane in one week! Hurricane Irene came through Virginia Saturday and knocked out the electricity to over 1 million customers and caused widespread damage. Thankfully, we never lost power and stayed safe through the storm. Mark's Kroger store is still without power and it was quite rough working last night in the dark without air conditioning. Many of our friends lost power and are still without power. Please pray for all those without power, for those working to restore power and for it to be done quickly.

Another ear infection

Abigail has not been sleeping well the last few nights and is congested. We took her to the pediatrician today. She has another ear infection and some congestion. She will be on antibiotics again and will have to start a daily allergy medicine. Please pray for her to heal quickly and completely and for all of us to get some good rest.

Earthquake!

We experienced a 5.8 earthquake today at 1:50pm. That was the scariest thing ever! I work on the 3rd floor of our 3 story office building and the floor and everything on my desk was just shaking wildly for around 45 seconds. Mark and Abigail were napping at home and the shaking woke Mark up. Thankfully, Abigail slept right through it. The news report said it was the most powerful earthquake to strike the East Coast in 67 years shook buildings and rattled nerves from South Carolina to Maine. There have been a few aftershocks since but no where near as extreme as the inital quake. I'm grateful that we were kept safe!

I had the priviledge of being the lead chaperone for the 3-5 year old boys class at Vacation Bible School this year. It was a long week but well worth it since 25+ children were saved. I had great help this year. Amber Rivard made the week so much easier, she is such a blessing and encouragement. The schedule was smooth and the kids had a great time. I look forward to next year! It has been an incredible 5 years since we said "I do". Since I'll be at Vacation Bible School this evening and Mark has to work tonight, we will go out for our anniversary lunch tomorrow. We have been blessed these last few years with great family and friends, good health, good jobs and the joy of our lives, Abigail. I'm so thankful for such a loving, hard working and compassionate husband and father to Abigail. I can't wait to spend many, many more years with him by my side! Today we celebrate the 6th anniversary of our first date. After meeting on match.com in May, we had our first date on July 22, 2005. That was just the beginning of a beautiful thing. Mark is a wonderful, kind and loving husband and father. I'm so thankful that God allowed us to meet!

We spent a few hours at Brandon and Misty's home with friends from church for a cookout yesterday. The weather was a bit hot but we still had a good time. Of course as always, the food was great. Mark played corn hole for the first time and did quite well. He played a good number of games with the guys. Abigail had fun in the bouncy house and with a water toyset outside. We had another successful day with potty training Abigail. She was completely dry when she got up this morning and went at least 10 times today. There were a couple small wet diapers throughout the day but she's doing really good so far. We will be buying some pullups and big girl panties to hopefully help make the transition a little easier. :o)

We are so proud of Abigail! She went pee-pee on the potty 5 times today! Abigail gets so excited when she is done. She yells out, "I did it! I pee-pee on the potty!" Then she asks for her sticker. We reward her each time with a sticker. I'd much rather buy more stickers than more diapers! :o)

Abigail took a nap today! What's even better is that she went pee-pee on the potty when she got up! She's going more and more on the potty lately. We are really excited that she's doing so well with the initial start of potty training. No more diapers is looking better and better!

Does it look like she's going to take a nap? I'd say not....She's only taken a total of 2 naps during the day in the last 3-4 weeks. We'll keep her in her bed for at least an hour but she just plays, sings and talks to herself. Mark needs her to nap so he can get some extra rest. Any suggestions?

We attended my company picnic at the Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game tonight. PFG is a supporter of the team as well as their food distributor. It was hot but we had a good time. This was Abigail's 2nd baseball game. She enjoyed the mac n' cheese and cookies at the buffet. Mark and I enjoyed some bbq and hotdogs. I think Abigail's favorite part was trying cotton candy for the first time. She also had fun making new friends with some of my co-workers and their families. The temperatures have been in the high 90's most of the week. Just happened to be at 100° when we reached 50,000 miles on our Nissan Sentra. Summer is here folks!

Abigail began to get sick Thursday with a runny nose, cough and low-grade fever. She didn't sleep well at all the last few nights. Her fever was getting higher Friday and she just seemed more miserable. We took her to the pediatrician yesterday afternoon and they said her lungs were clear but she had a double ear infection and cold. They prescribed some antibiotics for her. Last night was rough, her fever spiked to 102.3° and she fell asleep in my arms around 7pm. Abigail hasn't fallen asleep in my arms since she was a baby. She woke up about 4 times during the night. She seems to be feeling a little better today and the fever has stayed under 100°. Please pray that the medicine works quickly and that she feels better soon.

Abigail loves her church friends. She constantly talks about them during the week. We are thankful she has some good and nice friends. I had nursery duty last night and snapped a picture of snack time with my cell phone (sorry the quality isn't so good). As you can see, there are usually more boys than girls. Of course, Abigail doesn't mind. :o)

We went to my grandma Bray's house in Elizabeth City, NC for Mother's Day this year. It was good to see my mom and her side of the family. We had our usual cookout and spent most of the day outside. Abigail had a blast with her cousins, Nonny and great-Grandma. 4th Annual HBC Car Show 2011

We had a great time at the Car Show at church today (minus the sunburn). Mark's dad and stepmom came down from Harrisonburg and joined us for the show.
